A Call to Action!
The history of America is really pretty amazing if you stop and think about it. We forged from one coast to the
other, built cities and farms, and found ourselves to be the most influential country on the planet…all in fewer than
250 years. It’s really quite an achievement how our forefathers were able to look to the future, not exactly knowing
where they were going but knowing exactly where they’d come from, and wanting a change from all of that. The
founders of the United States knew what it meant to be oppressed and they knew exactly what they didn’t want to
see here, in the new world. And so they built a Constitution, a creed by which the country would be built, and how
incredible it is that the document still stands true today.
The Constitution is not without its challenges, though, and we see many times each year how powerful
people hope to change the doctrine of our existence into something that fits their own personal needs or beliefs. It’
s shameful. But, as I said, we’ve only been around a couple of hundred years – 233 to be exact – and it’s
expected that we would make mistakes. The problem that I see, however, is that many of our politicians fail to
recognize the mistakes that have been made by other countries – countries that have been around far longer
than we have – and so they are doomed to make the same mistakes, and suffer the same consequences that they
did.
There is a bill before the Illinois legislature right now that hopes to impose a new rule on all gun owners. The
bill, introduced by Rep. Kenneth Dunklin of Chicago, takes aim at gun owners by forcing them to carry $1 million in
liability insurance. And since all Illinois residents are already forced to register their guns, the state police there
already know who the lawful gun owners are. The bill requires the seizure of guns from any gun owner who doesn’
t abide by the insurance regulation.
Ok, Dunklin, with all due respect, you’re an idiot. And I mean that in the most sincere way.
Forcing law abiding gun owners to now buy $1 million worth of liability insurance does nothing to discourage
illegal gun owners from shirking the law. Remember, it’s the legal gun owners who fell for the firearms registration
law in the first place! Forcing them now to either anti up (pun intended) or lose their rights is extortion…of course
that’s not a new concept for the Illinois legislature – they have a long history of law breaking already.
Looking back through the history of the world, gun control has never had a positive impact on the citizens.
Places like Turkey, China, Germany, Cambodia, and Guatemala have already been there, done that, and their
citizens, unable to defend themselves, paid dearly. Will the United States be next on the list? Possibly. Remember,
the best predictor of the future is the past. Too bad elected officials, who are supposed to act in the best interests
of the people, can’t figure that out.
On the heels of this bill in the Illinois legislature, comes another one from the US Congress. This bill, another
from one of our fine politician friends in Illinois, is called the Blair Holt Gun Licensure Bill, or HR45 for short.
Get ready for this one, because I’m not sure how we’ve managed to live such fine and productive lives
without it!
This bill hopes to make it law for all people who own firearms with a detachable magazine to register their
guns. But first, before you can register your guns you’ll be subjected to a fee, and have to submit a fingerprint.
But wait, there’s more. You’ll also have to take a written test, which will test your knowledge of firearms storage,
particularly in the vicinity of children under the age of 18, the safe handling of firearms, the use of firearms in the
home and the risks associated with such use, the federal, state, and local laws pertaining to firearms, and any
other subjects that the Attorney General deems appropriate. Wow, I feel safer already!
The government is so concerned about law abiding citizens killing themselves with legal firearms that they’ve
come up with this wacky scheme to force all handgun and semi-auto firearm owners to register their guns so that
bad guys will know…Oh yea, it’ll be the Federal Government who knows about the guns we own…and they’re
here to protect us.
I may be a bit skeptical here, but looking at this new federal bill and the one in Illinois, I kind of get the feeling
that the two go hand in hand. Maybe they want us to register our guns so that we can all be required to carry $1
million in liability insurance? Would the government, those people we elected to represent the people of this
country do such a thing? Yes – and it’s happening right before you very eyes.
Remember, it’s not the law abiding gun owners who are running around gunning people down on the streets.
It’s the idiotic criminals, those who are already banned from owning guns, who are doing these deeds. We
obviously can’t control them, so let’s set our sights on a more vulnerable target – the law abiding sheep who will
have no other choice but to bend to the wills of the government.
We are looking at a very dark time in America. Our rights – the very rights that make our country great – are
under attack. The liberal democrats are pushing their way into our lives, into our homes, into every place where
they have no business because, like a bully who knows he can get away with it, they want to pick on the people
who will do all they can to abide by the law.
Americans have rights that have been guaranteed by the Constitution of this great country. A few idiots in
government are trying their very best to do away with those rights and they have a lot of people following them
over the edge.
It’s time that Americans stood up for what is right. Do not let your rights be swallowed up by a few self
righteous knuckleheads who believe that governmental restrictions are the way to make our country safe. Write
your senators and congressmen and let them know that you’re pissed that they are even considering this
legislation.
